We are flexible and open to either a part-time or full-time position. A part-time role could potentially grow into a full-time position, or we can offer a full-time position from the start.
FUNCTION: The Children’s Minister (CM) is regarded as a person called first by God and secondly by this congregation to minister the gospel according to one’s spiritual gifts, talents, education, and experience.
AUTHORITY: The Children’s Minister (CM) is directly accountable to the eldership and the Senior Minister concerning matters of doctrine, ethical and moral conduct, and service performance as a Minister of this congregation.
OBJECTIVE: The CM’s primary purpose is to minister to youth with enthusiasm. They will develop and direct a ministry to youth that leads them into an ever-deepening relationship with Christ and work with the entire family, including parents, to promote family worship.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
SPIRITUAL
- They will be an exemplary servant of Jesus Christ.
- The focus of their ministry is to be with infant-5th grade students and their spiritual development.
- hey serve with the Senior Minister, staff, and Board in providing direction, formulation of vision strategies, and ministry programs of this congregation.
- They will train and equip people for ministry (Eph. 4:11-13).
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
- The CM is expected to spend time daily in personal meditation and devotion-Bible study, and prayer.
- The CM is expected to spend time in personal reading and study.
- As opportunities are available, the CM may continue their education. The congregation realizes that it benefits directly from this further educational study.
RELATIONSHIPS
- The CM is to work closely with the Senior Minister and be under his direction concerning office and related matters, and shall keep the Senior Minister informed of the plans, activities, and direction of the youth program.
- The CM is responsible for the youth programs/ministry and reports to the Senior Minister and Board in these matters.
- The CM shall work with the staff in planning and coordinating the overall program of the church.
- By virtue of position, the CM is recognized as an ex officio member of all committees that relate to areas of children’s ministry. As such, the CM is entitled to a voice in the decisions that affect the governance and direction of this congregation.
- Maintain a good working relationship with other staff members, keep informed of plans in the area of children's ministry, and help when appropriate.
- Assist with other ministries as needed.
- Fill in for other staff members who are required to be off due to illness or family emergencies.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
The CM will have the following duties in the area of children’s ministry:
- Oversee the planning and publicizing of youth activities, programs, and classes.
- Provide lesson material for all the youth teachers.
- Handle discipline problems that arise in the youth area.
- Meet with teachers and sponsors and provide training as needed.
- Promote and participate in Summer Church Camps for each age group in your flock.
- Recruiting of vacant teaching and sponsor positions, including Sunday School.
- Develop activities and programs that will serve as an outreach to unchurched youth.
- Develop relationships and church activities with the youth and the parents/families of the youth.
- Provide special resources, seminars, and experiences that will help equip children and families to grow spiritually.
- Organize opportunities for the youth to get together for training, prayer, discussion, service, and fellowship.
- See that the Child Safety Policy is adhered to in all youth activities.
- Keep the Senior Minister informed of all plans and activities.
MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES
- The CM position may include other responsibilities and duties if the applicant desires.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Since the Children’s Minister is often seen as an official representative of the Kingdom of God and First Christian Church of Grove, as the schedule allows, the CM should attempt to be involved in community or civic activities.
- The Children’s Minister should make an effort to maintain a good relationship with both the area Christian churches and the area denominational churches.
